The goal of Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center Laboratory is to improve patient care by providing clinical and pathology services that are accurate, appropriate, and timely for the patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers associated with Great River Health.
Our staff is committed to meeting the complex needs and high standards of the region’s healthcare providers as well as the individual patient. Our clients’ needs are always foremost to us and we continually strive to improve how our services are delivered.
Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center Laboratory also provides additional specimen testing through our reference laboratory sites:
Our Laboratory maintains a current CLIA number with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
The main responsibility of the Laboratory is to perform those tests that the physician feels are necessary for the treatment of inpatients, Emergency Department, and Surgery patients. The lab provides outpatient lab services for Great River Health clinics, in-town physician offices, and out-of-town providers. As long as the Lab has a lab order from a provider, an individual can have labs drawn at Great River Health.
Our labs are DOT-certified to collect drug and alcohol screens, and we also collect non-DOT drug screens and breath alcohols. Pre-employment and random drug screens are available from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Call Centralized Scheduling at 319-385-6540 to schedule an appointment. Centralized Scheduling is open Mondays through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Post-accident and reasonable suspicion can be done 24/7; please call Lab directly if it is after Centralized Scheduling hours. Any new account also needs to contact the Lab. The Lab phone number is 319-385-6149. We work with employers to accommodate needs, so please call Lab directly if special arrangements need to be made.
The Lab also collects paternities. These are by appointment and are set up by the Lab performing the testing. HCHC is the collection site only and if a patient wants a paternity test, they need to go through Child Support Recovery or one of the national labs that perform the tests to have them set up the collection appointment at HCHC.
Any testing not provided in-house is collected and sent to one of our reference labs daily which include Weland, Quest, or the State Hygenic Lab.
