The Diabetes Education Center at HCHC offers individual and group class settings. Classes are taught by a variety of medical professionals including a physician, registered nurse, dietitian, pharmacist, social worker, and podiatrist.
Muscles in Motion
This is a program for anyone who would like to exercise in a supervised environment and learn proper techniques. Clients can access all weights and exercise equipment in Rehabilitation Services, in addition to having the continued support system of the rehabilitation staff members and other clients.
Sports Medicine Clinics
Parents & high school athletes, if you suspect an injury or concussion, don't wait! Our certified athletic trainers are available for on-the-spot evaluations.
Bariatric Support Group
Connect with others who understand your bariatric journey. Share your experiences, feelings, and challenges in a supportive community. Find encouragement, motivation, and friendship as you navigate this chapter.
Caregiver Support Group
Being a caregiver can be rewarding and fulfilling, but it can also be exhausting and isolating. Connecting with people who understand what you are experiencing as a caregiver is important. Palliative Care -Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center hosts a monthly support group to help people connect with others and provide education on available resources.
Diabetes
Many educational and motivational speakers present topics of interest. There is no charge, and healthy refreshments are served.
Rays of Hope
This is a free workshop to help youth navigate loss. For youth ages 8 to 15, participants will connect with peers who have had similar life experiences, create a keepsake remembrance of their loved ones, and learn strategies to cope with grief.
Stroke Support Group
Life after a stroke requires some adjustments. Learn how to make them and live better from health care professionals, other stroke survivors, and caregivers.
Survivorship 101
Let us help you adjust to your “new normal” with specially trained facilitators while you connect with the only people who can truly understand your journey - other cancer survivors and their caregivers. This 9-week program provides practical guidance for your next steps, including research-based advice on topics like nutrition, exercise, intimacy, and reducing anxiety.
Tear Soup
Based on the book "Tear Soup," the workshop provides a better understanding of grief and many suggestions for working through grief and helping others with their grief. Participants learn how to perform the “art” of grieving and how to fill the void in life left by a loved one’s death. This workshop is offered in the fall.
Tender Heart Tuesday
A community grief group led by bereavement specialists that meets on the first Tuesday of every month.
