YOUR TREATMENT PROGRAM
On referral to the clinic, you will undergo a thorough diagnostic examination to identify the type of wound you have. We also will work to understand and deal with any underlying problems complicating the wound. As this evaluation continues, we will begin a program that is tailored to your needs and based on effective treatment options. When appropriate, our providers will ask other health care providers to help evaluate and treat your wound. The goal is a treatment regimen that offers the fastest route to wound healing.
HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY
Our West Burlington campus offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy for treatment of wounds that won’t heal using other methods. The word “hyperbaric” refers to a gas that is at greater pressure than normal. When patients breathe 100% oxygen inside one of our pressurized chambers, the concentrated oxygen enters the bloodstream quickly, healing the wound from the inside out. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy also helps fight infection at the wound site.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy requires several treatments.
