Provider-Based Billing
Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center, West Burlington, and Fort Madison clinics are provider-based (also known as hospital-based) outpatient clinics. This means you are receiving doctor care and hospital care.
Healthcare services received after August 1, 2024, will show two charges billed separately, even though they may happen at the same time. These include professional services or doctor care and facility fees also known as hospital care.
Professional Services of Doctor Care
Being seen by a healthcare provider for a clinic visit or procedure.
Reading of a test result.
Facility Fee or Hospital Care
Room, equipment, supplies, testing, and other healthcare staff, used during a clinic visit or procedure.
Lab, tests, and imaging.
Insurance companies may charge different out-of-pocket fees for this type of billing resulting in higher out-of-pocket costs for you depending on your insurance plan.
We recommend you consult directly with your insurance company to find out how each portion of the charges may be covered for provider-based clinics and how out-of-pocket expenses may be affected.
If you have questions or concerns, after you receive your statements, please contact Patient Financial Services at 319-768-3625, option 2.
