Spiritual Care

Hospital chaplains don’t represent specific churches and they don’t push religion. They are members of our care team who can help during significant health-related events such as illness, surgery, birth, and death.

Chaplains on the West Burlington campus help in practical ways. They:

  • Facilitate discussions on ethical medical decisions
  • Help patients complete advance directives
  • Help people deal with concerns, fears, questions, and worries
  • Provide prayer, sacraments, and scripture
  • Facilitate connections with local clergy and faith communities
  • Support families and friends
  • Provide pastoral counseling
  • Provide Bibles and other spiritual resources by request

Reflection Room and Spiritual Care Office

The Reflection Room is on the main level of the hospital in West Burlington, next to the Heart & Vascular Center. It is open 24 hours a day. Patients who want to go to the Reflection Room should talk to their nurses.

The Spiritual Care office is on the first floor of the hospital.
